Alerts that come to you

Fleetola comes to you when something needs you: an email when money falls behind, a push notification the moment something happens, and the bell and badges inside the app. Every switch in this guide sits on one screen, under System in Settings.

Where to find it: Settings → System

An email when a renter falls behind

  1. Open Settings, pick System and find the Email panel.
  2. Check All email notifications is on. It is the master switch - off stops every automatic email, this alert included.
  3. Turn on Email me about overdue payments - the row is there whenever the Payments module is part of your setup. Both switches have to be on for the alert to send.

The check runs once a day. What counts as overdue is judged by the calendar day in the timezone you set under Business. Everyone on your team with an email address gets the alert, and each unpaid amount is chased at most once a week - a nudge, not a drumbeat. One warning: this switch is bigger than it looks. Turning it off stops the whole overdue chase - the email to you, and the automatic overdue email and push to your renter. The wording of what renters are sent lives under Messages - see The emails your renters get.

Push notifications on your phone

Push is the fastest channel: a freshly signed contract, a new booking or a message from a renter lands on your phone through the Fleetola app the moment it happens, and the daily overdue check delivers its findings as a push too. Two switches have to agree before one arrives. The Push notifications switch on the Other channels panel is yours - saved to your account, so it follows you onto any phone you sign in on. The phone's own notification permission is the other, and the app asks for it once, the first time you sign in on that phone.

Push is not arriving

  1. Check Push notifications is on under Other channels. Each team member has their own switch.
  2. On the phone itself, flip the switch off and on. If the phone was never asked for permission, it asks now.
  3. If the app says notifications are blocked, no switch in Fleetola can help - open the phone's own settings and allow notifications for Fleetola.

A team member is only pushed about sections they can see - nobody gets an alert about a screen they cannot open.

Keep alerts until resolved

Normally the bell, the sidebar badges and the card markers clear the moment you view them - you have seen it, so it goes. Keep alerts until resolved, on the In-app alerts panel, keeps them lit until the item itself is handled: the payment recorded, the licence renewed. The choice is saved per device, so your phone can keep alerts lit while the office computer clears them on sight.

SMS and the weekly digest

Not yet. Both rows sit on the Other channels panel marked Soon: Fleetola sends no SMS today, and there is no Monday summary. When they ship, this is where they switch on.

Tip: Switching an alert off never pauses the money. Rent still falls due and late fees still build, whether anything told you or not.
