Customer addresses
An address is collected as four fields everywhere Fleetola asks for one: your New customer form, the customer's own record, the renter's signing page and the public sign-up.
Why four fields
One line of free text cannot be matched against anything. Registering a traffic fine against a renter needs the suburb and the postcode as separate facts, and the form is refused when the address cannot be matched to a delivery point. Four fields are four facts.
The lookup
Where an address index is connected, typing three or more characters into Street address offers a list of real addresses. Picking one fills all four boxes and records that the address came from the index. Editing any box afterwards clears that record, because an address you picked and an address you typed are not the same claim.
With no index connected there is no dropdown at all and the four boxes are ordinary typing. Nothing is blocked either way.
On the agreement
The street prints on one line, and the suburb, state and postcode on the next. A customer whose address was saved as a single line before the four fields existed is shown exactly as it was saved and is never split up by guesswork - retype it into the boxes next time you have them open and it lands as parts.
