Share a live location link
A share link puts one vehicle's live position on a public map page - built for handing to someone outside Fleetola, a tow driver or a recovery agent, at exactly the moment you need them to find the car. Tracking is an optional paid module, switched on per account - contact us to add it to your plan. Without it none of this appears.
What the recipient sees
A read-only map with the car's current position: the rego, make and model, its speed, when the position last updated, your business name and when the link lapses. The page refreshes itself every 20 seconds, works in any browser and needs no login. That is all it shows - no trip history, no replay, no commands, and nothing about who is driving. Enough to find the car and know it is the right one.
Create a link
- Open Tracking and click the vehicle.
- Click Share - the icon at the top of the panel, or the button at the bottom.
- Pick how long the link should last: 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours or 3 days. There is deliberately nothing longer - this is a live location.
- Click Create link, then Copy link, and send it however you like - text, email, anything.

Only the account owner can create or revoke a share link. Handing out a car's live position is a disclosure decision - wherever the car is, so is whoever is driving it - and that call stays with the owner.
Tip: Copy the link the moment you create it. For security only a scrambled copy is stored, so Fleetola can never show it again - if you lose it, just create a fresh one.
Revoke a link
The same dialog lists every active link for that car: when it was made, when it lapses, and how many times it has been opened. Sent one to the wrong person? Click Revoke - it stops working immediately. The list cannot show the links themselves, only when each was made - the same security choice again, and enough to decide which one to kill.
The recipient says the link stopped working
Three things end a link: it expired, you revoked it, or tracking was switched off - turning the module off stops every link you have handed out at the same moment, so nobody outside keeps watching a fleet you switched off. The recipient sees one message for all three - the page says only that the link is no longer available, never which - so a guessed link looks no different from a lapsed one. If they still need the position, create a fresh link and send it.
Waiting for the vehicle to report is a different message and a healthy one: the link works, but the tracker has not sent a position - a car parked underground, say. The page keeps trying by itself, so tell them to keep it open rather than asking you for a new link.
