GPS tracking for your fleet
Tracking puts your fleet on a live map: where every car is right now, which are moving, and which have gone quiet. It is an optional paid module - contact us to add it to your plan. Until it is added, the GPS tracking row in your Modules settings says Not in plan, and nothing tracking-related appears anywhere else.

What the module includes
The Tracking page is the whole fleet over a live map, each vehicle with its state: moving, parked, pairing, no signal, or no tracker fitted. Open a vehicle for its trip history and replay, a geo-fence that alerts you when the car leaves it, a speed alert, and the tracker's own health.
The owner can go further: stop a vehicle's engine remotely where a fuel-cut relay is wired - every stop needs a typed reason and is recorded - or hand someone outside Fleetola a live-location link, say a recovery driver. A share link shows the car's current position only, expires on the timer you pick, and can be revoked at any moment.
Tracker alerts land in your notification bell and as push notifications: speeding past the limit you set, leaving the geo-fence, external power lost, half an hour of silence, a tow alarm, a fuel drop.
A tracked car keeps its own odometer. Fleetola adds the distance the tracker reports to the vehicle's reading, so service reminders run on real kilometres, and a report splits the distance by contract - saying plainly when it only covers part of one. Editing the reading by hand is recorded as a correction, with your name against it.
Tip: If you track your vehicles, your renters must be told - a driver's consent to GPS tracking is a legal requirement, not a courtesy. Rental Terms & Conditions in Settings warns you and offers a starting clause - click Insert a starting clause.
The hardware
Any Traccar-compatible tracker works: bring your own hardware, or use the stock Sinotrack units. A fuel-cut relay is separate, optional wiring - without one the car still reports everything, but it cannot be immobilised.
Fit a tracker
- Open Tracking from the sidebar, click Add tracker and pick the vehicle.
- Enter the device's IMEI - printed on the unit - and its SIM's mobile number if you have it.
- Text the connect commands to the tracker's SIM from your own phone. The wizard lists them ready to copy; Fleetola itself sends no SMS.
- Wait on the pairing step. The first report usually arrives 2 to 5 minutes after power-up, and the wizard tells you the moment the car is on the map.

No Tracking in your sidebar?
Three different situations look the same from the sidebar. The module is not in your plan - the Modules row says so. Or it is in your plan and switched off: the toggle on that same row is the owner's, and only the owner can flip it. Or you are signed in as a team member whose permissions hide the section - ask the owner.
Switching it off
Switching the module off takes the page out of the sidebar and stops every tracking function with it - and any share links you have handed out stop resolving at the same moment, so nobody outside keeps watching a fleet you switched off. Nothing is deleted: switch it back on and everything returns.
