Set up payouts
With the Online Payments module, renters pay you by card and the money reaches your bank through Stripe. Before Stripe pays anyone it verifies who it is paying - that is payout setup. It lives on the Payouts panel under Your account in Settings, and without the module the panel does not appear at all.
What Stripe asks for
Four things: your business details - sole trader or company, what you sell, your website - your ABN, photo ID for the person setting up, and the bank account payouts should land in. The form is Stripe's own, on Stripe's site. Have those ready before you start.
Set it up
- Open Payouts under Settings, on the Your account tab. Only the owner can act here - team members see where setup stands, but the buttons are switched off for them.
- Click Set up payouts. You leave Fleetola for Stripe's form.
- Work through it. Closing the tab halfway loses nothing - Continue setup takes you back and you pick up where you left off.
- When Stripe returns you to Fleetola, the panel shows exactly where things stand. It asks Stripe live every time you open it - and if Stripe can't be reached just then, the panel shows the last status it had and says so, with a note asking you to refresh.
Where to find it: Settings → Your account → Payouts
The four states
Not set up - you have not started. In progress - Stripe's form is part-finished; carry on when you are ready. In review - everything is in and Stripe is checking. There is nothing more to send; card payments and payouts turn on when Stripe finishes. Stripe needs more from you - usually a document. The panel names exactly what, in plain words, and shows the due-by date where Stripe set one.
If a setup link expires before you finish, Stripe sends you straight back and the panel says so. Start again with the same button - your answers are kept.
Where is my money?
Card payments and payouts are two separate switches on Stripe's side, and card payments can turn on first. So renters can be paying you while every cent still sits with Stripe - the panel says so plainly whenever that is your state. Nothing is missing: the money waits with Stripe and flows to your bank once its checks clear.
Tip: A due-by date on the panel is real: miss it and Stripe can stop your card payments altogether. Send what is asked for the day you are asked.
Change the bank account later
Once setup is complete the panel reads Payouts are on and names the bank account your money lands in, by its last four digits. Update payout details opens Stripe's form again - change the bank account there, or anything else Stripe holds. Only the owner can press it, the same as setup.
