How weekly billing works

A rolling rental is billed on a cycle - weekly by default, or fortnightly or monthly. Fleetola tracks what each renter owes and when it falls due, and you record each payment as it comes in.

What happens each cycle

  1. Payments shows the rent due for every active rental.
  2. Record each payment as you receive it - card, transfer or cash.
  3. It moves to Paid, and the next period is what falls due after it.
  4. A payment past its grace period accrues the daily late fee you set under Settings → Money. Fleetola adds what has accrued when you mark it paid; recording it charges nobody.

Tip: The payment day is anchored to the day the rental started. Move it from the contract, and Fleetola asks what to do with the days in between rather than quietly rewriting the schedule.

Some charges ride with the rent every cycle and some are yours to collect - see Charges and add-ons for which is which.

With the Online Payments module, renters pay from their portal and autopay can collect the rent for you - see Card payments online and Autopay and direct debit. Otherwise you record the payments you collect and Fleetola keeps the rest straight.
