The damage diagram

The diagram is the car outline every hire form has: five views of the same car - the plan from above, both flanks, the front and the rear - with a mark for anything you find on it.

Mark the car

  1. On the Handover step of a contract, or from the contract afterwards, open the outline.
  2. Tap the panel where the damage is and pick what it is: chip, dent, scratch or crack.
  3. Each mark is numbered on the drawing and listed beside it, so number 3 on the page is number 3 on the car.
  4. Tap a mark, or its line in the list, to remove it.
  5. Found nothing? Record that. Inspected, no damage found prints on the agreement as a finding, and it is not the same document as one where nobody looked.

Tip: Anything you do not mark is not on the sheet the renter signs.

At return

The handover marks come back as a faint outline when the car does, so you only mark what is new. Both sets are kept: the agreement carries what the renter signed for, and the return set is what you compare it against.

On the agreement

The outline prints at about a third of a page, with the legend and the numbered list under it - the section a paper hire form leaves blank for a biro.

It prints only where the contract records a diagram. With Damage diagram switched off under Settings → Contracts, marks are still kept and shown in the app and never reach the signed agreement.

There is a cap on how many marks one end of a rental can carry, so the printed list stays readable. The capture screen tells you when you have reached it.
