Handover condition photos

Condition photos protect you and your renter by recording exactly how the vehicle looked when it changed hands.

Capture them

1. On the Handover step of a new contract, take the pick-up shots: front, rear, both sides, the interior and the odometer. They attach to the contract when you save it.
2. Missed them at the kerb? Add them later from the contract itself.
3. Capturing from a contract - later, or at return - each shot saves as you take it. Check every tile says Saved, and tap Retry on any red one.
4. At return, the End contract flow asks for the same shots, plus a tick-box return checklist and the fuel level - see Ending a contract.
5. Compare the two ends to see what changed.

Tip: Renters see their handover photos anytime in the Documents tab of their app, which heads off most disputes before they start.

Photos, the diagram, or both

Settings → Renting → Handover checklist decides what your contracts record: condition photos only, the damage diagram only, or both. Step 4 of New contract can change it for one contract without touching your default.

The answer is written onto each contract as it is created, so changing the setting never changes a contract that already exists - a renter who signed a sheet with the car on it keeps that sheet.

What you are asked for is your own list in the same panel. Photos are the slots - front, rear, both sides, the cabin pair and the return odometer to start - and you can add your own, like a tow bar or the boot. Readings are the odometer and the fuel level. Checks are things you tick, like the spare tyre and tools.

Each item says which end asks for it: handover, return, or both. A handover or a return holds up to 8 photos in all, slots and extra shots together. Switching the odometer reading off at return does not stop a contract with a kilometre allowance asking for it: excess distance is billed from that number, so it is asked for anyway.

Each contract keeps the list it was made with. Renaming, archiving or reordering an item changes new contracts only, so a return always asks for what its handover asked for.
